The Gloucester Poetry Festival 2022

The 2022 Gloucester Poetry Festival, organised by The Gloucestershire Poetry Society, comprised of 4 events. 3 in the City of Gloucester and an online event.

We ran three free events and a paid event, as we believe that poetry is for all and must be accessible.

During the Festival weekend, we raised money for the Gloucestershire Nightstop Charity.

Gorilla Slam!

The Gloucestershire Poetry Society brought Gloucester’s own annual Poetry 'Gorilla Slam' as the opening event of the Gloucester Poetry Festival at the Tiger's Eye, 9A Southgate Street, Gloucester.

Hosted by the phenomenal Chloë Jacquet and awesome Nick Lovell.

Poetry in the Round

The Gloucestershire Poetry Society brought 'Poetry in the Round' as part of the Gloucester Poetry Festival, upstairs at The Fountain Inn, 53 Westgate Street, Gloucester GL1 2NW.

A friendly poetry interaction with readings, discussion, Q&A’s, buy, sell, swap poetry. A poetry amnesty perfect for self-publishing and small press, local writers.

Facilitated by Forest of Dean poet and 2022/23 Beat Poet Laureate (England), Karlostheunhappy.

The Gloucestershire Poetry Society brought JENNY MITCHELL with Adam Horovitz as part of the Gloucester Poetry Festival at the iconic Discover DeCrypt, Southgate Street, Gloucester. Introduced by Josephine Lay

Followed by a selection of Gloucestershire Page & Performance Poets including, Angela France, Chloë Jacquet, Derek Dohren, Jason Conway, JLM Morton, Karlostheunhappy and Z.D. Dicks. Hosted by Josephine Lay.

Part of the proceeds from this event were donated to the Gloucestershire Nightspot Charity.

The Gloucestershire Poetry Society presented a Crafty Crows (Gloucester Poetry Festival Takeover), 'Beat the Hell out of Halloween' special event, plus open mic.

This was a joint headline event with two Beat Generation-influenced poets, GPS regular Michael Sindler and Mimi German.
